The Deep Things of God: How the Trinity Changes Everything by Fred Sanders is not the best book I’ve read on the Trinity. However, it is among one of the more interesting. The title grabbed my attention as so many Christian books tend to focus on the trivial. There is nothing trivial about Sanders’ work. THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE – John Frame (2008)
The Doctrine of the Christian Life by John Frame is the third installment in his Lordship series. The preceding work, The Doctrine of God is the most influential book I have read to date, outside the Bible. Every seminary student and pastor should carefully read The Doctrine of God. The contents are sure to revolutionizeContinue reading “THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE – John Frame (2008)”

HOW DO WE GLORIFY GOD?
John Hannah answers one of life’s most penetrating questions in How Do We Glorify God? He surveys the erosion of godlessness in the current post-modern climate and contrasts this condition with the solas of the Reformation: Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone), sola Christus (Christ alone), sola gratia (grace alone), sola fide (faith alone), and soli deoContinue reading “HOW DO WE GLORIFY GOD?”

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS – Thomas Watson (1692)
Jonathan Edwards has always been and will always be my favorite Puritan pastor and theologian. But Thomas Watson comes in as a close second. Though he did not pump out the material that Edwards produced, his work is always readable, inspiring, poetic, biblical and God-centered to the core. The Ten Commandments is no exception. ThomasContinue reading “THE TEN COMMANDMENTS – Thomas Watson (1692)”

The Gospel of the Kingdom is a solid biblical theology that stresses the importance of God’s kingdom. Ladd presents theContinue reading “THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM – George Eldon Ladd (1959)”
